Admission

Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at Soongsil University is the only department in Korea, which has both
an statistics tract that develops data analysis capabilities which are core competencies of the future society and
an actuarial science track that maximizes the synergy between statistics and actuarial science.

Academic Excellence Scholarship

A. Applicants who have completed application/submission of documents for the 2015 2nd Semester National Scholarship
1) Those who have completed the first application and submission of documents: Tuition reduction in advance
2) Those who did not apply for the 1st round: Tuition refund after confirming the 2nd (planned at the end of August 2015) application and submission of documents
3) Non-Korean nationals who cannot apply for the national scholarship can also be selected.(However, foreign students prohibited to be selected)

B. Those who are enrolled in the second semester of 2015 or are expected to return to school and are expected to pay tuition for that semester
1) Those who registered before the second semester of the 2015 academic year and returned to school after a leave of absence are excluded from selection.
2) All scholarships are canceled in case of change of registration due to non-registration, cancellation of admission, cancellation of return to school, etc.

C. Those who have completed 15 credits or more in the previous semester (12 credits or more in the semester immediately before graduation)
D. Those who have registered for less than 8 semesters (Architecture and Architecture major: those who have registered for less than 10 semesters)
E. Those who have a GPA of 3.5 or higher in the previous semester based on the academic record, including F grades

Work Scholarship

A. Applicants who have completed application/submission of documents for the 2015 2nd Semester National Scholarship
1) Limited to those whose income quintile has been inquired by completing the application during the first application period.
2) Non-Korean nationals who cannot apply for the national scholarship can also be selected.(However, foreign students prohibited to be selected)

B. Priority selection for those in the 8th income decile
C. Those who are enrolled in the second semester of 2015 or are expected to return to school and are expected to pay tuition for that semester
1) Those who registered before the second semester of the 2015 academic year and returned to school after a leave of absence are excluded from selection.
2) All scholarships are canceled in case of change of registration due to non-registration, cancellation of admission, cancellation of return to school, etc.
3) As of the second semester of the 2015 academic year, only students enrolled in the 2nd-7th semester (1st and 8th semester applications are not allowed)

D. Those who have completed 15 or more credits in the previous semester and have GPA of 2.5 or more based on academic record including F credits
E. Note: Selected students must work for the designated working hours in the department they belong to, and in the event of a change in the student records (leave of absence, dropout, expulsion, etc.) during the semester or giving up midway due to unavoidable reasons, scholarships are paid for the hours worked.
F. Possibility of receiving multiple scholarships with other scholarships (in-school and department work, and national work scholarship excluded)
※ The cost of previously selected scholarships and department work scholarships cannot exceed tuition.
G. Replacement selection is allowed regardless of the number of school days--however, the student's working hours before replacement are deducted.
H. Those who are not selected for the National Work Scholarship

Scholarship for those who passed the 1st examination for actuary qualification

Standard Grades: GPA of 3.0 or higher
Scholarship Amount: Full and half tuition
Method: ① Apply online for u-SAINT, ② Print out the application, ③ Check personal information collection agreement
Documents: ① Scholarship application form (printed out) and ② Proof of passing the examination (limited to new applicants)
Others: ① Required the application for the scholarship of the Korea Student Aid Foundation.
② Received from the first semester after passing the examination. ③ Received twice for the first pass and received until graduation for the second pass.

Life Insurance Social Contribution Scholarship

Major:
① Financial insurance major (specified as ‘insurance’ on the certificate of enrollment)
② Insurance-related lecture participants (specified as ‘insurance’ in the course name, etc.)
③ Those who have passed at least one of the Actuary Qualification Test (1st or higher), IFP, and CKLU
(At least one of these conditions must be met.※Submit relevant proof.)


Grade: Applicants with a GPA of 3.0 or higher by the previous semester
